Blacksmithing Level 2: Nordic Kuksa Mug

Feast yer' eyes, peasant! You've already mastered Blacksmithing Level 1. We must dine on Second Breakfast in celebration of your achievement. However, it is now time to endure training for Blacksmithing Level 2: Conquering the Nordic Kuksa Mug.

Wolfdôr's handcrafted nordic kuksa mugs make the perfect companion for your brew of coffee, tea or hard liquor. Handcrafted from lightweight acacia wood, these historic vessels bring you a taste of Norse culture and heritage. It's no wonder travellers of today carry a kuksa with them on their journey!

History of the Kuksa

A kuksa (kook-sa) originates from the northern Nordic-Scandinavian region of the Sámi peoples, and was originally a multifunctional tool that was used to collect berries and water. It is often carved out of birch wood.

Taking Care of Your Kuksa

To care for your Kuksa mug is to care for your own well-being. It can be a lifesaver while travelling the road, venturing through murky bogs or hacking your way through dense bush. Now, peasant - hear my words and learn how to care for your kuksa:

Washing your Kuksa

  1. Wash your kuksa with warm water. It is not recommended to use soap, as it will wear away at the food-safe resin/coating.

  2. Dry with a towel and ensure no water is left inside the mug.

  3. Store in a dark and cool location. Dryness should be moderate - any environment too dry will stale the wood.

  4. Periodically treat with food-safe resin if desired. This is not necessary.

Be sure to not place your kuksa in a spell-casted machine called a dishwasher. The heat and intensity will damage your mug.

Well my young apprentice, you have officially completed your kuksa training, and are a certified Level 2 Blacksmith. Well done. Now, off to the woods with you!
